Industry stewardship & policy priorities
By elevating and expanding our AmerisourceBergen associate grassroots advocate network with whom we partner and educate, we leverage our internal business expertise to advise and drive thought leadership throughout the industry. Collectively we inform and engage policymakers on a nonpartisan basis to help shape legislation, regulations, laws and administration policies impacting patients, providers and the future of the most cost-effective pharmaceutical care.
Patient Access
We support regulatory and legislative policies that help ensure more people can access and afford needed treatments – including individuals negatively affected by the social determinants of health, such as race, education, ethnicity, social and economic status and those living in underserved urban and rural locations. Our key-issue advocacy focus includes safe, efficient and reliable delivery of medicines, promoting the evolution of pharmaceutical benefit design and supporting the emerging biosimilars market.
Innovation
In an ever-changing healthcare landscape, we support innovative solutions that yield improvements in treatments, drug delivery and ultimately patient care – including COVID-19 therapies, cell and gene therapies, vaccines, biosimilars and the Emergency Medicine Stockpile. We inform federal and state elected officials about our secure, efficient and innovative pharmaceutical distribution network, which enables cost effectiveness across the entire pharmaceutical supply chain and ensures greater patient access to pharmaceuticals.
Community-Based Care
We support patient access to community-based care and believe in the empowering utility of delivering patient care in the most appropriate setting and at the right time – including through telehealth. We continue to work on strengthening the vital role community practices, veterinarians, local health systems and independent and retail pharmacies play in ensuring patients receive quality and affordable care, where and when they need it.
Advocating for community-based pharmacies
Our Independent Voice
Through Our Independent Voice, we advocate on our customers' behalf to ensure issues important to independent and long-term care pharmacists are elevated. Areas of focus include provider status, access to patients, fair reimbursement, and FDA repackaging guidance.
Advocating for independent, community practices
Community Counts
Fair reimbursement, patient access, recognition for services provided—these are important issues for independent specialty providers. In supporting access to community-based care, we established Community Counts to ensure our collective voice is heard, understood, and acted upon.
